Africa and Its Challenges: The Way Forward by Teresa Abila

Africa, the Mama-Land, is rich and ripe with protruding natural resources, wildlife and immense talents/skills. It is one of the richest continents in the world - a place where most of the world's untapped resources, fertile lands and human capital lie dormant, waiting to be exploited. Ironically, from time immemorial, Africa has and is continuing to suffer the most.

Africa, in entirety, has continued to experience unending challenges. These challenges have hindered the realization its full potentials. The aforesaid challenges range from economic, social, political and climatic factors. These factors, cumulatively, have led to the retrogressive nature of the continent; like the high levels of unemployment, over-dependence on Western nations for their developmental agenda which leads to excessive huge debts, unexploited minerals (gold, silver, stones), dependence on culture, individualisation, tribalism. More so, Africa has been questioned on its inability to emit gases as its countries are not polluting much as Western ones. For developmental purposes, Africa must fully embrace industrialization. THE WAY FORWARD

Comrades, Africa is made up of outstanding, unique and distinctive personalities, who are ready to see the continent move to the next level such that Africans could benefit from all these resources. We are the future leaders, who believe Africa can be independent and survive on its own despite the numerous challenges. Every country has its challenges, all we need do is collectively work together to realize the dream.

In essence, what Africa needs is a change of mindset and leaders who are committed to serve for the interest of their countries, but not theirs (servant/visionary leadership). Visionary leaders are the builders of a new dawn. They work together for the common good and strategically find amicable ways of solving problems to create opportunities and breakthroughs.

My fellow comrades, we are change who are ready to stand for the change and absolutely nothing is going to alter our minds. All we need is support for our vision to manifest fully. This is our time to get out in-front of it, and let our voices be heard to realize sustainable development in Africa and see Africa as the biggest hub for investment. THIS IS THE TIME FOR CHANGE!

Now, this begs the question; what are we future leaders going to do to ensure visionary leadership is fully embraced in Africa?
